If you are one of the many people this Christmas season who have absolutely no idea what to buy for the people in your life that won’t end up returned after Christmas, this is the article for you. You could learn how to get them a gift that they want, or you could simply get them a gift card, thus allowing you to just spend the rest of the day with the person you care about.

year after year, Christmas continues to get more extravagant Christmas is time for picking up piles and piles of wrapping paper and trying to figure out how to fit gifts in cars, even though every year we swear that the next year we will be better prepared. It’s fun to receive gifts, especially when you’re a kid, but as adults, do we really need to go bonkers in the mall each year?

The obstacle occurs, because everyone has different tastes. The theory seems to be that if you just buy a lot of stuff for a person you will please them because you increased the odds. Do an online search to find the perfect gift for your loved one. You need to get opinions from people who are sure of what they are looking for. In the course of the year, make a few subtle inquiries so when the gift occasion arises you won’t be stumped. This information should help you resist buying them unneeded trinkets and gadgets. When these ideas fail, there is nothing wrong with gift cards. You can personalize these with a few home-baked cookies or ornaments, or with a personalized card that lets them know that you wanted them to have the last say about their gift. Even if you get to spend all your time surrounded by gifts, the best gift of all is spending time with loved ones.

Many say that gift cards are impersonal, but think about it, isn’t buying someone something they don’t need or want impersonal too? Gift cards are a great back-up plan when research and questioning have failed to provide you with any ideas. Most of the time people don’t know what they want, or won’t answer if they do. There are plenty of ways to please this group, too. Here is a great site for some gifts for everyone.

There are quite a number of things you can do with furniture, besides the obvious things like sitting on them and using them for the traditions things that they were expressly constructed for. Using oak furniture as firewood can bring an exquisitely decadent twist to your lifestyle. Imagine telling all your friends that you burned an antique piece of ornately carved oak furniture to cinders, the look of horror on their faces when you tell them that they’re next. You fetch the axe from the garden and brandish it menacingly in front of them. The small one - Graham - goes down first, he snaps in half like kindling, fuel for the fire. Thomas is the next to go; he takes a couple of swings, ruining your shirt with a thick spray of internal claret. Susan’s screams pierce the air, it was a good thing you soundproofed the house, otherwise what would the neighbors say? Look, she even tries to run, but you catch up to her easily as the fool ran upstairs. She begs for her life, rather pitifully. A wry smile forms on your lips as you raise the axe above your head, only to bring it down on her feet, the force of the blow severing both of them completely and the axe bites into the hardwood floor. She’s going into shock now; she doesn’t understand what’s happening. But you do, you know every precise thing that you’re doing, you’re a monster and have been planning this for weeks, but never quite expected it to be this much fun. A final blow to the middle of her chest caves her ribcage in, puncturing both lungs simultaneously. Blood bubbles form at her mouth, popping all the while, spattering your face with a fine mist. She breathes her last.

Become your own Guru
By Linda Landry (c)

I have been an Internet ‘marketeer’ now for nearly a year. One of
the first things I learned was there were a lot of people willing to
tell you how to make money on the net. I would get lost in cyber
space because I was redirected to sites offering to tell me how
to become rich with little or no money to invest. It was usually an
E-book they were selling.
I purchased a few and I learned some
things but mostly that the way to become rich was to sell their
information. I did a lot of exploring and tried a lot of things to
promote my site. I did the FAA, the safe lists, I paid for opt in
mailings, I did banners, link exchanges and passed out flyers and
business cards. With all of this I learned that everyone on the net
has a way to promote that will seemingly make you rich.
I became familiar with the names of the
Guru’s. I learned from them but what I learned that seems to be
the most important, is that making money on the net is not an
overnight success. It is a learning process or a try and then try
again. I learned that I cannot stop exploring and I cannot expect
that I will know everything there is to know by listening to Guru’s.
In that sense, I have begun to become
my own Guru. I know things now I did not know one year ago. I
have learned what works a little, what works a lot and what works
NOT! First and foremost, I have learned what works for me and
what I feel comfortable doing. I enjoy trading links, I like making
banners and post them when it is economical and I like publishing
my ezine. I have let go by the wayside things that did not work for
me such as the FAA pages and the safelists. I am not a Guru by
any means but I am not certain I wish to be. Whoever heard of a
RICH GURU anyway? I always pictured a Guru as a wise old man
sitting and living atop a mountain waiting for seekers of wisdom to
find him. Perhaps he lived in a mansion but I only saw pictures of
Guru’s wrapped in white sheets with rope belts. I am certain that
is not for me. I will settle for continuing to explore the vastness of
this Information Highway we call the Internet until I am making the
amount of money I feel my efforts deserve.
Lately, I skip the tips of the Guru’s.
I subscribe to a lot of ezines and when I have hundreds of emails
I open the ones from publishers I trust. They are making a sincere
effort to assist other publishers and ‘marketeers’. I skip the subject
lines telling me I will make a lot of money or asking me if I ‘missed
the call’ or touting the name of a well known Guru. I read and listen
to the publishers who started out just like I am and have built their
list and there web biz. That is what I plan to do. I will become my own Guru.

Metal sinks with high quality metal is much better. They tend to be thick and firm while maintaining a clean appearance easily. Eighteen gauge metal or thicker is recommended by professionals. Another type of metal sink is cast iron. Cast iron is elegant yet smooth and comes in many different colors. Cast iron sinks rarely replay a sound when water is running into it. Cast iron is the easiest of all metals to keep clean. The only problem with cast iron sinks is that due to their massive weight you will need a cabinet and counter top that is capable of maintain its weight.

Metal sinks can be just as decorative as other sinks made out of various materials. The more decorative a sink is the more the sink is going to cost. And usually a more decorative sink is much harder to keep clean. Add a super decorative sink will force you to decorate your entire kitchen to match the decorative sink. This will in return cost you even more money. If you would like to add an old fashion look to your kitchen you can use an antique sink. These sinks resemble the old sinks often used in a farmhouse. Antique sinks are usually quite sturdy and have a large deep bowl with an attached drainer which is very convenient.

Spring is on it’s way and even though it may already be tempting
to spend the day outside, take a few hours to clean out your
closet. You’ll be glad you did when it is finally time to dig
out those t-shirts and shorts.

Before you start: Try to have all your clothes washed and in
your closet before you start, so you have a good idea of what
you actually own at this point. Wear some comfortable cloths and
turn on some up beat music. Grab a couple of rags and some
all-purpose cleaner to wipe off shelves and rods in your closet.
Grab a couple of large trash bags and a few empty laundry
baskets.

Start out by sorting everything into three piles. 1. Things you
will throw away or use as rags. 2. Things you will give away. 3.
Things to keep.

Make these piles outside of your closet. With the closet empty,
take some time to wipe all the shelves off with a rag and some
all-purpose cleaner or some soapy water. If you have wooden
shelves, use a dusting spray or a barely damp cloth. If you’re
not sure what you can use on your shelves, just give it a good
dusting.

Take some time to sweep or vacuum the floor as well. Don’t
forget to wipe the rods and clothes hangers as well.

Take a look at your three piles. If you are anything like me,
pile 1 and 2 are probably pretty small and almost everything in
your closet ends up in pile 3.

Time to go over the pile again. Here are a few “rules” to help
you figure out what’s worth keeping:

If you haven’t worn something in 9-12 months it is probably not
worth hanging on to. You may like the looks of a particular
sweater, but end up not wearing it because it itches. Or you
found a blouse you love, but haven’t been able to find anything
to go with it. If you don’t have a very good reason to keep it,
give it away or toss it.

Do you have a pair of pants or a dress that is several sizes to
small, but you keep telling yourself that you will fit in it one
of these days? I know this is hard, but be honest with yourself.
Are you going to lose enough weight in the near future to fit in
it? If you think you will, give yourself 6 months to fit into
those cloths. Put them in a bag with a dated note. Set yourself
an email reminder, or keep a note on your fridge to check back 6
months from now. If the cloths still don’t fit, toss them or
give them away.

Look over your keeps pile again. Do you notice several similar
items? Do you have 6 pairs of black dress slacks, 3 pink
sweaters etc? Do you really need 6 pairs of black pants? Pick 2
or 3 of your favorites, or the ones that are in best shape and
toss the rest. Do the same with the sweaters. Pick one to keep.

Don’t forget to look through your socks and undergarments as
well. Get rid of anything you wouldn’t want to be seen in. Spend
a few dollars on some new items if you don’t have much left when
you are done.

Now it is time to put your keepers back in the closet. Take a
few minutes to figure out what goes where best. Divide your
clothes by season and keep them together accordingly. It will
make it easy to switch your spring and summer items to the back
of the closet in the fall.

A few last tips for those of us tempted to pull stuff back out
of the do-not-keep piles. If you are planning on using some
items as rags, go ahead and cut them up now. You can keep them
in a plastic bag or small cardboard box in your cleaning supply
closet.

Take the bags to be thrown away or given to charity as soon as
possible. The longer they sit around the house, the more tempted
you will be to dig something back out.

That’s it. With a little luck you’ll have enough room in your
walk in closet to actually walk into it at this point. You may
have found clothes you forgot you had and you should have a much
better idea of what’s actually in your closet.

Give yourself a pat on the shoulder for a job well done and go
enjoy the first spring days outside.

During a recent visit to a toy store looking for the perfect
gift for a child, the insight I received gave me a very rude
awakening. A child is born with all kinds of gifts tucked right
in there with the cute little smile and the tiny toes and
fingers. There is creativity, inspiration, imagination, and fun.
It is all right there - just waiting to be encouraged, and
allowed to grow and mature. What really happens when family and
friends lavish gifts of the latest toy trends and gift ideas
that toy manufacturers insist are the “in” thing? These precious
and fleeting gifts are not nurtured and give the “food” they
need to become the basis for future careers, jobs, and
lifestyles. Instead, they allow the child to be a bystander and
“watch the world go by” - but not become a “mover and shaker” of
what is going on. In other words, the script, cast, and
everything in between has been scheduled, programmed, and packed
- all in one box. Children are the future of each and every one
of us - they will be the doctors, lawyers, judges, politicians,
cooks, clerks, parents, citizens, etc. No one is so isolated
that they will not be affected by the decisions and actions of
these children when they become adults. You can run, but you
can’t hide from what the future will bring - and from those who
will bring it about - today’s children. While a child may whine
and cry for the very latest in what the ads show as the “craze”
of the times, you are the purchaser, or the main ingredient in
the child oy experience. Maybe making a total about-fact is not
a reasonable choice for you and your child, but seek out a few
alternatives. If you buy a “pre-programmed” action figure,
vehicle, or play set, offset it with a few “standard” items.
Lincoln logs can still fascinate, art sets (whether clay, paint,
or pencil) can nudge that creativity, or games that allow the
child to think, react, and plan. Books, craft kits and building
blocks of all sizes, shapes, and forms, give hours of pleasure
and allow the child to become the “programmer”, not the
“bystander.” With the Holidays coming on in a hurry, think about
the “fleeting gifts” that will go away if they are not given a
chance to sprout, grow, and blossom. Look for ways to allow your
child to expand their imaginations and interact with their
playthings - create backgrounds, situatins, and results.

While the world rushes by with all kinds of things money can buy
for your child, don’t rush them right out of their childhood.
Allow them the fun, freedom, and fascination that breeds
healthy, happy, and successful adults.

Those few precious years are just that-precious. They cannot be
retrieved or erased - only encouraged, motivated, and
celebrated. This holiday season, watch a child grow and become
all he/she was intended to be and become a part of the future -
a future for each and every one of us. ENJOY! ©Arleen M. Kaptur

Any investor knows not to put all of his or her “eggs” into one
basket, or all of your money into one fund or stock account. If
all of your funds are in one stock, the risk is great that the
one stock account could go down and you would lose all of your
money. If you spread your investments out into many different
funds or accounts, if one account goes bad, it does not create
drastic adverse affects on your total funds. The losses and the
gains will balance out and as long as the economy is going well,
your money will grow. I find it is useful to apply the same
philosophy in our daily lives.

One of my favorite quotes is, “Variety is the spice of life.”
If you put your whole life into one thing, one hobby or one interest, or
one friendship, you are taking a great risk. Problems and
struggles in life are inevitable. Relationships can end, friends
can be lost, interests can change or ambitions may fail. Such
experiences can lead one, who has invested all he or she has
into something, to feel that all is lost. They can feel
hopeless. They can feel like a failure. As I said, such
experiences are inevitable in life, but they do not have to drag
one down the way they do. The trick is to learn to manage such
experiences more effectively.

One way to manage the inevitable bad experiences in life is to
create a variety od other good experiences to fall back on. By
having a variety of interests, a variety of goals, or a variety
of hobbies, as in investing, one bad experience will not hurt so
bad or cause someone to feel like they have lost everything.
Like investing, the good and bad experiences can balance one
another. Hobbies can be good experiences that people can create;
they can have control over creating good experiences in their
lives that can outweigh the bad.

My suggestion to everyone is to sit down, think of a variety of
things or hobbies that
you love, enjoy, or that make you happy, and systematically go
after each one of them. Learn to play a musical instrument, the
guitar or the piano or whatever interests YOU. Learn a new sport
or yard game to play outside with friends. Find of a line of
books or topics of books that interest you and begin reading
them. You will be surprised how fast finally doing things YOU
enjoy, or helping others find hobbies THEY enjoy, will make your
life seem so much better. One more thing, in case anyone ever
really reads this. I am not advocating getting a variety of
romantic relationships; that will obviously just ruin every one
of them, rather find a variety of interests that you both have
and do them together.

If you can learn anything you can learn everything. It just
takes time and commitment. Why not commit to the things that
make you happy. Think what practicing the guitar or piano for
just half an hour a day will do. The difference between
knowledge and ignorance on a topic is only a book away. The
difference between failing and succeeding is getting up and
trying.

At Variety Access, your online hobby store and
more, we provide the tools for you to pursue YOUR interests and
YOUR hobbies. We provide the tutorials to learn a new hobby and
find all of the things necessary to pursue that new hobby, from
books to games and sports equipment to camping and outdoor gear
and to musical instruments. Meet other people who share your
interests and learn from them through our online forums or
newsletters. Do not let another bad day go by again.
